The Global HS Classification analyst (Engineering support) is a member of Global Classification Center of Excellence team, consisting of in-house classification experts. This position reports to the Global Classification COE Global Lead. Taking advantage of the Engineering background the Global HS Classification analyst is responsible for developing and executing the commercial references products HS classification, ensuring technical support is being retained to full compliance.
The job location is in Mexico with some potential business trips.
Main mission (responsibilities)
- Accountable for product HS classification for commercial references products, with the support and consultation of BU project and uploading into SE global customs automated trade tool database.
- Review existing product classifications in SE global customs automated trade tool database to identify and solve HS discrepancies between same type of products and across different countries.
- Develop arguments for and manage advocacy of HS classification inquiries/disputes with local Customs authorities, with support of local BU and external resources.
- Monitor global and country legislation related to product HS classification, and update / amend product classification in SE global customs automated trade tool database as required.
- Prepare periodic reports, including metrics, of classification information as maintained in SE global customs automated trade tool database.
- Support on other HS classification-related projects.
Competencies
- Review / comprehend technical specifications, drawings, or other product information.
- Perform research (online or otherwise) to obtain technical product details.
- Strong analytics on power electronics and electronic components.
- Above average experience/knowledge on electrical and electronic products.
- Supports the HS CoE team to ensure the understanding of Engineering concepts, such as IoT, communication protocols, automation, electrical magnitudes, etc.
- Understand products changes and updates to identify potential HS Classification changes.
- Participate in new products introduction.
- Strong analytics on product’s Bill of Materials.
- Engineering, drafting, or material management experience.
- Work in multi-cultural corporate business setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communications.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in Engineering fields with particular focus on product management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
- Graduate of Electronic and/or Electrical Engineering course
- Advanced skills with MS Office with particular focus on Excel and Access.
- Fluent in English/Spanish.
