In the Vaccine Generation Research-grade Production and Release team, we are responsible for the production and characterization of seed stocks for promising vaccine candidates that can be used for future GMP manufacturing. We produce viral vector stocks to meet the needs of our R&D programs and collaborate with groups across early- and late-stage product development areas.

- Perform the production and purification of Master virus bank (MVB) material and research grade material of viral vector vaccine candidates according to standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Senior level position is expected to also perform non-routine processes related to production and purification such as implementation of new processes and/or troubleshooting of existing ones.
- Perform release testing of virus productions (viral titer determinations, genomic characterization, mycoplasma and sterility assessments, transgene expression analysis, etc.).
- Senior level position is expected to participate in initial data analysis, troubleshooting and implementation of new assays.
- Prepare fresh cultures of primary chicken embryo fibroblasts (CEFs) and participate in standard cell culture activities (propagation, counting, seeding, etc.)
- Participate in general laboratory maintenance and organizational tasks (reagent preparation and ordering, equipment maintenance, etc.)
- Document procedures and results in English according to established quality standards.
- Senior level position is expected to participate in report and SOP writing as well as internal presentation of results.

- Biological laboratory assistant/ technician qualification e.g. BTA, MTA, CTA, PTA, or equivalent qualification.
- For senior level position, 5 years of experience in industry would be required or a master’s degree qualification
- Solid hands-on experience with standard cell culture techniques is a must.
- Previous experience in at least one or more of the following techniques/areas: flow cytometry, virus work under BSL-2, molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, plasmid preparation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.). Specific experience working with bioreactors is an advantage.
- For senior level position solid expertise in two or more of the above-mentioned techniques is required.
- Good working knowledge in standard computer programs (MS Office). Knowledge in applied software for flow cytometry, DNA analysis and/or bioreactor systems is a plus.
- Good documentation and communication skills in English and German
- Ability to work efficiently in a team with shared responsibilities and a proactive mentality towards tasks/goals.
