We are looking for 3 qualified or unqualified Telecommunications Assistants/Crew Members to join our organisation. A Telecommunications Assistant/Crew Member is an entry-level position in the telecommunications industry, which involves digging trenches, laying cables, installing, repairing and maintaining telecommunications equipment and infrastructure such as cables, towers, and other related equipment under the supervision and guidance of the Lead Technician. The job requires physical stamina and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Minimum guaranteed hours are 30 hours per week, not exceeding a maximum of 50 hours between Monday and Saturday. You will be paid an hourly wage, plus holiday pay and sick leave.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for digging trenches, laying cables, and backfilling trenches.
- Assist in installing various telecommunications equipment, including antennas, cables, and other related devices, and help to ensure that they are properly placed and secured.
- Help to maintain and repair telecommunications equipment, which may involve climbing towers, working at heights, and handling heavy equipment.
- Assist in testing and troubleshooting various telecommunications equipment and infrastructure to ensure that they are functioning properly.
- Assist other workers, such as electricians and technicians, in the installation and repair of telecommunication systems.
- Follow safety procedures, policies, and instructions from the Lead Technician rigorously to avoid accidents while working with high-voltage equipment, heavy machinery, and at elevated heights.
- Ensure tools and equipment used in telecommunication work are in good working order and report any issues to supervisors.
- Responsible for documenting their work and communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Requirements:
- Previous knowledge or work experience in telecommunications is preferred, however not necessary and training will be provided.
- Physically fit and able to work in a team environment.
- Punctual and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work at heights, where you may be using ladders for long periods at a time.
- Able to adapt to client needs and changing requirements, including working on Saturday.
- Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license will be preferred.
