Job role
The Allianz Cloud Platform Engineering team is looking for a Distributed Systems Engineer to join us. In this role, you will architect, modify, improve, maintain, and support our cloud-based user-facing platform which is built on Open Source software.
Responsibilities
- Develop Kubernetes operators (based on Crossplane), which compare desired state of system to actual state, then control aspects of the systems to reconcile differences
- Build production ready REST APIs, service oriented architectures, or microservices
- Participate in on-call rotations tasked with diagnosing and fixing outages and incidents
- Designing, developing, automating, and deploying critical portions of the services that power Allianz Cloud Platform
- Design systems minimizing cloud-computing platform, like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, costs and complying with best practices and standards
- Work with internal customers, including engineering teams who produce services to help onboard and maintain
- Contribute to CNCF Open Source projects
- Reviewing and providing quality feedback on pull requests from other contributors to the platform
Requirements and Skills
- Cloud native programming in Golang
- Written and maintained code that interfaces with the Kubernetes API, such as operators, controllers, add-ons, etc
- Incorporated modern operational and application delivery tools and methodologies into your production deployment workflows, like CI/CD, IaC, and GitOps
- You are very familiar with the public cloud infrastructure: AWS or Azure
- Managed production Kubernetes deployments
- You used some of the tools: Crossplane, Terraform, ArgoCD, vCluster, Kubernetes Policies, GitHub Actions, Dynatrace, Kubernetes Monitoring and Logging services
Would be considered a plus if:
- Developed a Kubernetes controller, operator, or platform component
- Contributed to CNCF Open-Source projects
- Programmed in Golang
- Have experience in frontend technologies, e.g. JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS, etc.
