We currently have an exciting full-time vacancy for a Sports & Leisure Attendant to join our Sport & Leisure Services team in St. Michael’s House, Dublin. This role will suit someone with a passion for increasing the level of participation of people with disabilities in sport and physical activity.

We do this through:

  • Our Leisure Centre (Belcamp Lane, Dublin 17) which includes a fully accessible 19m hydrotherapy swimming pool, social areas, small gym and fitness studio
  • A 14m Swimming Pool (Baldoyle)
  • Online Activity Hub - a new online part of the service established to provide new opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to use the online environment for health, advocacy and education purposes, ultimately aimed at improving digital and social inclusion.
  • Community-Based Sports Programming
  • Health Promotion Activities and Education

We are seeking an enthusiastic new member to work collaboratively with the team across these strands. The post will primarily include the delivery and facilitation of swimming, physical activity programmes and sports in the leisure centre, through the online activity hub, and in community settings. We place a large focus on providing individualized support to each person so they can achieve their own chosen goals.

All staff must be available for shift hours over a 7-day roster and attend regular staff training. Comprehensive training is provided.

Essential Criteria:

  • A current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification/Irish Water Safety Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Have a professional and positive approach on all aspects of the role

Desired:

  • Have a recognised Qualification in Sport, Leisure & Recreation/ Community Sports Development/ Coaching or Teaching/Health Promotion
  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities preferable.
  • Previous experience working in the sport, leisure, fitness or recreation sector
  • Pool Plant Room qualification
  • Fitness Qualification or Sports Coaching Certificates.
  • Aqua Aerobics Certificate
  • Older Adult Physical Activity Programming
  • Disability Awareness Training
  • Safeguarding/Child protection qualification
  • Swimming Teaching Qualification
  • Have a strong commitment to the empowerment of the people with disabilities

Role and Responsibilities:

The role will involve creating a safe and fun environment for people to participate in swimming and physical activity programmes. This will include:

  • General lifeguarding duties.
  • Plant Room Operations.
  • Carrying out health and safety checks.
  • Aqua and swim class instruction where applicable.
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Participation in regular lifeguard training.
  • Personal Care.
