You report to the Plant Manager and you work closely together with colleagues from EH&S, Quality and Maintenance.
Job Summary
The Process Engineer at our Drachten location supports Plant Manufacturing and Technical Operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety, continuous process improvement and optimization. You will be responsible for analyzing the production processes, detecting problems, looking for solutions to increase productivity and optimizing the process with customer expectations for quality and cost on top of mind. Based on the information you obtain through analysis, you will lead projects and implement improvements. You will apply fundamental knowledge of basic principles, theories and concepts of industry standards and practices to design, automate, modify and develop equipment or processes used in processing or manufacturing products.

Essential Functions
- Will be responsible for improving processes and equipment to drive uptime higher while reducing scrap in various production processes including winding, coating, HGRC, ORC and twisting.
- Will develop new processes for new products. This may be new designs of products, or using new materials for current designs, or utilizing new equipment. Must be able to pick appropriate tooling for the design and materials used, and modify tooling as required to increase performance.
- Evaluate and optimize processes and equipment to generate cost savings, and improve quality, efficiency and productivity. Will need to work closely with EH&S, QA, Maintenance, and outside vendors.
- Develop new processes, research emerging technologies, and execute characterization and optimization studies of current processes using design of experiments, root cause analysis, troubleshooting and decision making tools.
- Identifying and resolving equipment/material/training/process issues, and coordinating activities of maintenance, quality, production and other resources to execute cost effective solutions
- Develops, designs, and communicates manufacturing processes.
- Participates in design reviews to improve the ability to manufacture products.
- Identifies and solves issues or problems with equipment/process. Troubleshoots possible rootcauses and coordinates the activities of maintenance, production and other available resources to implement cost effective solutions.
- Provides coordination of new process installation and process changes.
- Will develop new processes for new products. This may be new designs of products, or using new materials for current designs, or utilizing new equipment. Must be able to pick appropriate tooling for the design and materials used, and modify tooling as required to increase performance.
- Provide subject matter expertise to other departments
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- HBO working/thinking level / degree, Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Engineering. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Availability of 32-40 hours weekly
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Dutch and English
- Proficiency in software tools: Microsoft office / PI (data application)/ PI vision
- Proven data management experience
- Hands-on process engineering skills, coupled with analytical acumen, quality focus and a strong mechanical inclination.
- Creative problem solver with a proactive, self-starting approach, capable of collaborating effectively within internal and external teams.
- Knowledge of all company safety procedures
- Expertise in project management
- Robust mechanical aptitude
